We are proud to report that our school has been rated Good. This is a significant improvement from our previous gradings of Inadequate, and we are beyond thrilled to have achieved this milestone.
Our report was filled with positivity. The inspectors noted that our pupils talk about our school with “pride”. They also noticed that our school is a “calm and orderly environment”, which helps our children “feel well cared for”.
Another aspect of our school that we were praised for was our integration of inclusivity throughout the school. We achieve this by educating our pupils about a wide range of different “cultures and countries”. Ofsted was particularly impressed with how we incorporate different cultures into our art and literacy curriculum.
The inspector was also very positive about our curriculum; With a lot of praise being given to our literacy program. They mentioned that we put an emphasis on the importance of reading with our pupils. “Pupils are keen to share the books and genres they love. Staff expose them to a diverse array of texts, which helps to develop pupils’ confidence and enjoyment in reading over time.” This is a fantastic example of how Grange Junior makes learning fun and engaging for everyone, and is a vindication on the emphasis we have put on this area in recent years.
Inspectors also commented on the excellent work done by our Safeguarding and SEND teams, stating that: our school “quickly identifies the needs of pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities”, which helps our SEN pupils learn at a rate that is suitable for them.
Our Safeguarding team has been shown to be “effective”, and praise has been given for how quickly our leadership team acts upon any potential risk. Overall there was a great deal of positive feedback given to our pastoral support, however we will continue to improve our SEN curriculum in order to deliver the best education possible to our SEN pupils.
Finally, we would like to highlight the positive comments made about our staff. We are thrilled to see that parents think that our school goes “above and beyond to help their children”, which our staff most certainly do! It was also noted how Grange Junior's leadership teams have an understanding of pupils' needs and areas of improvement, which has helped them develop the school's curriculum and identify the “content that pupils should learn and the order in which they should learn it.”
